Bamberg, also known as Franconian Rome, is an ancient city situated in a fertile valley on seven hills between two branches of the Regnitz River in Bavaria in the south-eastern part of Germany. It has approximately 78,000 inhabitants. The historic centre has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
