Bibra Heinrich Karl

Heinrich Karl Freiherr von Bibra, also Karl Siegmund (* 20 February 1666; † 11 January 1734 in Forchheim) was a regimental commander of the Frankish District Dragoons from 1691/92 and attained the rank of Generalfeldmarschalleutnant.

Heinrich Karl Freiherr von Bibra came from the Thuringian-French noble family von Bibra. He was married to Maria Johanna Theresia, née von Eyb (1684-1771). Heinrich Karl and his three brothers who were still alive in 1698, including Georg Friedrich, Christoph Erhard and Johann Ernst, received the hereditary Imperial Baron's Diploma from the Emperor.

Heinrich Karl passed from Dutch service to the Frankish counties under Margrave Christian Heinrich. As successor to his brother Christoph Erhard, he took over the Bamberg company, and was thus subject to the Prince-Bishop of Bamberg, Lothar Franz von Schönborn.

Heinrich Karl von Bibra held a number of civil offices within the bishopric as an adjutant of the Bishop of Bamberg, Lothar Franz von Schönborn. In 1711 he was appointed Privy Councillor, from 1715 to 1717 he was High Hofmeister in the office of Scheßlitz, and finally in 1717 he became Hofmeister and commander of the fortress of Forchheim. In 1721 he received the Bamberg hereditary sub-marshal's office, and as a family elder he also became hereditary sub-marshal in Würzburg in 1727.

Heinrich Karl von Bibra married Maria Johanna Theresia née von Eyb (b. 1685). She was the niece of the Prince Bishop of Eichstätt Johann Martin von Eyb (1630-1704) and aunt of the Auxiliary Bishop of Freising Franz Ignaz Albert von Werdenstein (1697-1766).

Their son Heinrich von Bibra (1711-1788) became Prince Bishop of Fulda.
