Detailed information

History

The first mention of the building dates back to 1392. The owner at the beginning of the 16th century was the canon Wilibald von Redwitz, who, according to a dendrochronological survey of the roof, rebuilt the building in 1518-1519.

In 1744 the building was named 'Aufseß-Hof' after the owner Christian Ernst von Aufseß. He had the facade of the front house renovated around 1740 and the interior divided and modified, probably by Justus Heinrich Dientzenhofer.

Towards the end of the 18th century the building passed into the ownership of the townspeople.

In 1975, serious structural damage to the building was discovered. The upper floors of the front building were cleaned and a new supporting structure was anchored there. Between 1975 and 1977 the building was converted into a baroque hotel.

Architecture

The building consists of a front building, an outbuilding and a rear building. The main building, a three-storey building with an eaves side, faces Vorderer Bach Street and has a presentable façade. The structure, framing and parapet field are of sandstone blocks. At the edges, the façade is framed by pilaster bands with entablatures, the two central axes are highlighted as a flat, plaster-covered bay. There is an arched doorway surrounded by flanking tracery.

Above the portal is the double coat of arms of Christian Ernst von Aufseß and his wife Sophie Luise von Brambach, executed in sandstone.

The windows on the first floor are particularly ingeniously designed, with their height and offset arched lintels. Some furnishings from the 18th and early 19th centuries have been preserved in the building.

Current

The building is currently used as a hotel.
